I'm not so sure I like the cropping on the current masthead picture. At the time of this writing it is:

I think the ship is in the wrong place.

I think I'll stick with the current option. I like the grass, but I don't think this is the right place to use it.

I'm not too unhappy with what you have now. The crop with no space on the left is a bit crowded, and the grass is a bit too busy in the other picture.
